Julie Friedman Steele


Julie is a social entrepreneur and futurist, with a background in entertainment, science, technology and structured finance. She is the Board Chair and the driving force behind the World Future Society, a 50 year-old global organization which unites the architects of the Future and exists to guard tomorrow and ignite the futurist in everyone. 

Intel recently featured her on America’s Greatest Makers in their new online series for her work as CEO and Founder of The 3D Printer Experience, working to realize the vision that digital manufacturing will change the world. She is passionate about emerging technology and accelerating its adoption to make complex technology accessible to all. Julie thrives at the cutting edge of disruption. The 3D Printer Experience is the only storefront venue in the United States that combines a versatile event space with custom 3D printing services, education experiences, and a community-oriented futurist perspective.

Since launching 3DPX Julie has been named by The Chicago Tribune as a top 100 innovator in the City. She's garnered national and international media attention appearing in over 20 countries in print, radio, and television including The Today Show, Time Magazine, and a profile in Entrepreneur Magazine. She is also the published author of Encyclopedia Britannica's year in review on 3D Printing.

Julie is a regular keynote speaker and panelist including for TEDX, Unites States Patent and Trademark Office, IMTS, TechWeek, and Women in Technology to name a few. She also serves on the Advisory Board of The UN Women For Peace Association.

Prior to the The 3D Printer Experience (3DPX), she created an International MPEG standard, to make all TV and Film video content searchable and indexable on the internet. Julie also produced and directed the Genesis Award winning documentary on Pet-Overpopulation, Best Friend Forgotten starring actor David Duchovny and toured in stand-up comedy. 

In college she studied biochemistry and molecular biology at Boston University, Music Synthesis at the famed Berklee College of Music, and Artificial Intelligence through Stanford University.
